"Die Gassenhauer" is a clarinet, fortepiano and
violoncello trio performing music of the classical and romantic
time. The name of the group is derived from the name of famous
variations of the E flat major clarinet trio opus11 by Ludwig
van Beethoven.
"Die
Gassenhauer" trio won the "Best Interpretation Award"
and the "Prize of the Public" at the most important
in early music field "Musica Antiqua" competition
in Brugge in 1999 as well as the Jury prize of the 1999 "Alte
Musik Treff" competition of the "Bach Tage Berlin"
Festival. Since then "Die Gassenhauer" was invited
to perfor in many festivals, e.g. Vendsyssel festival in Denmark,
Zeeuwsch Vlaanderen festival in Holland, Festival des Midis
Minimes in Brussel, Belgium, "Tage Alter Musik"
Osnabruck; concert halls such as De Doelen Rotterdam, etc.
For the 2000/2001 season the trio is invited for a concert
tour as a part of the "Organisatie Oude Muziek"
network (producerof the important "Utrecht Early Music
Festival").
The repertoire of the group includes such well known works
as the trios by Beethoven, works by Beethoven's student Ferdinand
Ries as well as pieces by Carl Philip Emanuel Bach, who was
one of the first composers writing for this combination of
instruments. The result of historical research brought to
live such beautiful, but rarely performed pieces as the "Grand
Trio" von Adalbert Gyrowetz and works by Mozart's student
Anton Eberl.
